Samsung could launch Android smartphone in India this year

Samsung India has announced that they are aiming to launch 13 more mobile phones this year in the Indian market.

The company had aimed to launch 40 new models in the current year and they are pretty close to achieving that mark.

Samsung India said in a statement: “Our target it to launch 40 phones this year… so that leaves 13 more for the remaining months.”

The company also displayed their latest smartphone model Samsung Omnia HD which comes powered with a 1GHz mobile processor.

Samsung added: “We have exciting and innovative plans for the remaining part of the year… and that includes Android.”

HTC has already launched one of their Android powered models in the Indian market. it would be interesting to see Samsung compete with them in this segment of the market.

Google Android is becoming a popular mobile platform with support for touchscreen devices and web technologies.
