General Motors aims to manufacture a USD 4000 car

The launch of Tata Nano has resulted in all major automakers planning similar low cost model for the developing markets.

General Motors has revealed that they are considering developing a low cost car that can be priced at around USD 4000.

This car could be sold in Asian markets where there is heavy demand for such compact cars.

Nick Reilly, GM executive vice president, international operations spoke about their plans: “When Tata Motors in India came out with their $2,500 Nano vehicle, it put a lot of auto makers on the spot.”

With Tata aiming to launch their Nano model in both US and European markets, every automaker has to prepare to compete in this new segment.
