Skoda Fabia now being manufactured in Chakan
Volkswagen India has announced that they are now manufacturing Skoda Fabia at their Chakan plant near Pune.
The production began on August 15. Volkswagen India Private Limited President And Managing Director Joerg Mueller spoke at the occasion: “On the occasion of this Independence Day, the planting of saplings and watering them with the recycled water from our production facility is our symbolic contribution for a cleaner, greener and healthier environment.”
The increased localization of the Fabia is likely to result in a possible price cut in the near future of this model.
Skoda Fabia is already on sale in the Indian market and competes with Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai i20 along with Fiat Grande Punto.
Volkswagen India currently sells Jetta and Passat in India. They have plans to bring in Polo soon.
The company owns both Skoda and Audi which sells their own models in the Indian market.
