iLike could be acquired by MySpace

TechCrunch is reporting that MySpace is close to announcing that they are acquiring the web based service iLike.

This Seattle based music company has been acquired by the social networking giant for around USD 20 million.

This acquisition deal if true could become a PR headache for Facebook.

iLike is a hugely popular third party application on the Facebook social network.

They just recently launched a digital media store which is now accessible from the Facebook social network.

And this could soon mean that a MySpace powered service is providing music service on their prime rival Facebook.

iLike CEO Ali Partovi was recently quoted as saying: “Because we’ve been able to reach financial self sustainability, it is giving us the opportunity to spread our wings and expand from just being what people might have come to know us as to be more and bigger.”

So the news of them getting acquired by MySpace for just USD 20 million… It’s kind of hard to believe.
