Chevrolet Beat based small car to arrive in India next year

General Motors has hinted that their upcoming small car for the Indian market could be launched by January 2010.

This model is said to be based on the Chevrolet Beta concept car.

The company would also export this model to other markets from the Indian plant.

GM India said in a statement: “The new mini-car will be in the market by January next year and we will produce more than 40,000 units in the first year. Of this, we will export 20 per cent overseas, including to the European and the Asia-Pacific markets.”

The company aims to price the car at around Rs. 4 lakhs.

GM is already scheduled to launch Chevrolet Cruze sometime later this year in India.
