T-Mobile to charge for paper bill

T-Mobile is now informing their customers that hard copy of their bills would now cost them extra money.

The paper bills would cost USD 1.50 per month. Detailed bills would cost USD 3.50 per month.

Customers can switch to softcopies that can be delivered to their email Ids for free every month.

The company said that the initiative is to cut on paper wastage on bills when virtual copies can work fine for majority of their customers.

One of their customers Rob Connor is not really satisfied. He does not have an internet connection so he cannot switch to the free alternative. He said: “This thing of having to pay so I can pay is just a little too much. And I’m certainly not interested in some bogus argument about me contributing to global warming by NOT signing on to making it cheaper for T-Mobile to send me a bill.”

A monumental breach of contract. Probably illegal and surely unethical.

I don’t know who’s advising T-Mobile, but this is most certainly the wrong way to turn off paper billing. What they should be doing is first ensuring that their eBill site is so good that customers don’t care, and then move them to turn off eBilling with some positive incentives. Lots of middle ground available here… why did they choose the worst option? If you need help with eBill adoption… Sorriso can help.
