Lee Kai-Fu leaving Google China
Google has confirmed that Lee Kai-Fu is leaving their Chinese unit which has been working hard to compete with Baidu in that market.
The company has now announced Yeo Boon-Lock as Lee’s replacement.
Lee had joined Google from Microsoft. That appointment made headlines as Microsoft sued him for breach of contract.
Baidu continues to dominate the Chinese search engine market with around 60% market share. Google has around 30% of the market share.
Alan Eustace, Google’s senior vice president for engineering spoke about Lee: “Kai-Fu has made an enormous contribution to Google over the last four years, helping dramatically to improve the quality and range of services that we offer in China.”
