Infosys planning to setup a base in Shanghai China

Indian IT giants Infosys have said that they are planning to set up campus in Shanghai in China. Mohandas Pai, head, human resources said in a statement that they have received a proposal from the Chinese government.

China is offering the company land and other incentives and Infosys is seriously evaluating this offer. They already have around 500 people working in China and have plans to expand this worker base to around 10,000 in about four years.

Infosys had said in a recent statement that they are aiming at globalizing its workforce and are also planning to hire more engineers from USA and UK in the coming months. As of now, only a 3% of their workforce consists of non-Indians.

However, the company added that hiring people from other countries is possible but expansion would take place in the Indian market itself. Infosys is worried about a possible shortage of skilled and technical work force in about four to five years and wants to be ready for such a phase by preparing for it early.
