GM to shut down Saturn after-all

US based automaker General Motors has announced that they are going to shut down their Saturn brand.

This decision was taken after talks with Penske Automotive Group fell apart.

Penske Automotive Group was in talks with GM to acquire the Saturn brand from them.

Roger Penske discarded the talks after he failed to find a manufacturer to supply them with cars branded Saturn after their original deal with GM ended in 2011.

GM had first unveiled the Saturn brand in 1983. Saturn branded cars only arrived in the market in 1990. GM concentrated on SUVs and trucks market and as a result Saturn struggled.
