Mercedes-Benz wants to overtake BMW in India
Mercedes-Benz has long been the leader in the premium luxury car segment.
However, BMW now dominates that segment of the market in India.
Mercedes-Benz has stated that they are aiming to generate momentum in the coming months with the aim of taking back their number 1 status.
The company said: “Last year we led India’s luxury car segment with a 46 percent market share. This year Mercedes is somewhat behind BMW, but we are hopeful of gaining momentum in the coming days.”
Mercedes sold 3,625 cars in India last year. They are unlikely to touch that number this time around.
They face serious competition from the rival players in this market including Jaguar, Audi and BMW.
The company has just launched their new Mercedes E-Class in India.
