Hero Group could launch cars in India with Proton
Hero Group is said to be in talks with Proton Holding of Malaysia to manufacture small cars for sale in the Indian market.
Industry reports claim that the talks have been going on for a while and a final decision could be taken soon.
Hero Group is already involved in manufacturing of two wheelers in collaboration with Honda group. Hero Honda is the world’s largest manufacturer of bikes.
A company representative had this to say: “Proton officials came and met us earlier, and there’s nothing more to add.”
Small cars are hugely popular in India. And several automakers are present in this segment selling cars ranging from Rs. 1.3 lakhs to Rs. 5 lakhs.
