The Economist goes paid for online access
The Economist is the latest online magazine that is going paid.
The Economist team has alerted the readers that the content would be accessible only through a paid subscription starting October 13.
Wall Street Journal is the most popular online magazine that has paid only access to its online archives.
A lot of newspapers and magazines are considering taking this route to ensure sustainability.
Online ad revenues are no longer enough to ensure profitability. But it remains to be seen if less popular services can generate enough money through paid subscriptions.
