Acer overtakes Dell to become second largest PC maker in the world!
Things are looking bad for Dell which has now lost the second spot to Acer in the PC manufacturing market.
Hewlett Packard continues to lead the charts.
As per the latest data released by IDC, here are the market share of these companies:
HP 20.2%
Acer 14%
Dell 12.7%
Acer has managed to perform exceedingly well in the recent years because of the popularity of the netbooks. They also acquired Gateway which helped them gain market share in USA.
IDC spoke about these latest figures: “It’s a pretty amazing transition in market leadership by Acer. It’s reflective of the changes in form factors and channels and pricing–the way we’ve shifted to lower cost portables, particularly in consumer and retail, which is where Dell was not as strong.”
