Toyota not in hurry to become a major player in India

Toyota Motor Corporation has been selling cars in India since a long time now.

However, the company has failed to become a major player in the market mostly because of their range of vehicles sold here.

Toyota is not yet present in the compact car segment. They have been catering to the SUV, MUV and premium sedan markets.

The Japanese giant is however not in a hurry to become a major player here. Instead, they plan to do it slowing in a phased manner.

A company representative said: “We are going to take Toyota’s traditional approach, which means targeting all segments of the market and becoming a major manufacturer. We will do that step by step. It will take some time.”

Toyota already has plans to enter the very competitive compact car segment in the next two years. Things would become interesting from that moment.
