Honda Midwest Plant to be ready by 2008
Japanese automobile giants Honda have said in a statement that they would be adding another manufacturing in the US market and it would be located in Midwest. This plant would start producing vehicles by 2008 and would have an annual capacity of 200,000 cars.
The plant would be established at a cost of USD 400 million and would generate employment for 1500 workers.
It would help Honda develop a manufacturing capacity of 1.6 million units in the U.S. in 2008. It currently stands at around 1.4 million units a year.
The bigger aim of the company is to boost the manufacturing capacities to 4.5 million vehicles worldwide, by 2010. USA is to account around 2 million units out of that.
Honda already has plants in Ohio, Alabama, Canada and Mexico. The company also added that they would be discontinuing selling the two-seat Insight in September.
