Tata Motors to expand production at UP plant
Indian automobile major Tata Motors has announced their decision to expand its facility in Uttar Pradesh. This would involve adding a new assembly line for commercial vehicles and would require an investment of Rs 350 crore for the purpose.
A company representative said in a statement: “The expansion will include setting up of a paint shop, welding shop and a new assembly line”.
Tata Motors Managing Director Ravikant revealed these plans to expand their facility after having a meeting with the Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Ravikant in a statement: “Currently we have a capacity of 30,000 units. The investment would create direct or indirect employment opportunities for about 5,000 people in the state.”
He added that the company would be launching vehicles suitable for the rural markets in India.
