Volkswagen recalling 362,000 cars in the United States

German automobile giants Volkswagen have announced that they are recalling as many as 362,000 cars in the United States.

The problem is related to a brake light switch, which the company believes might malfunction resulting in safety problems.

The affected models are the Jetta sedan from 1999-2002 model years, Jetta III from 1999-2000 model years and the New Beetle from 1998-2002 model years.

These issues have been confirmed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. They said in a statement that the brake lights could become inoperative, or remain on if installed incorrectly during a previous recall.

VW is not the only one. Even GM just recently announced a similar recall program for 30,793 Chevrolet Corvette cars from the 2005-2006 model years.
