Warner Music to stop providing content to ad supported services
Warner Music has announced that they have decided not to provide their content to ad supported music streaming services that provide access for free.
Some of the services that are likely to get affected by this new development includes Spotify, We7, Last.FM and GrooveShark.
Muse, REM and Red Hot Chili Peppers are few of the popular music groups that are represented by Warner Music.
A company representative said: “Free streaming services are clearly not net positive for the industry and as far as Warner Music is concerned will not be licensed. The ‘get all your music you want for free, and then maybe with a few bells and whistles we can move you to a premium price strategy’, is not the kind of approach to business that we will be supporting in the future.”
