General Electric expects massive growth in India
General Electric is expecting its sales in the Indian market to grow to $8 billion by 2010. This is the new target expected to be revealed by the Chairman and Chief Executive Jeff Immelt to the Mumbai Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday.
The new target set by the company is a 60 percent rise from a prior target of $5 billion in annual sales in the region. It would be also around 8 times its 2005 annual sales.
GE India is going to gain from the increasing demand for its products in the aviation and health industry. The Indian government is working on improving the infrastructure of the various airports around the nation and health sector is seeing a boom as well.
The India specific statement came after the company revealed that it expected massive improvement in sales from the Chinese market. GE is expecting sales in China to double to $10 billion by 2010.
