DaimlerChrylser talking with Volkswagen and Chery Auto for a possible small car in China
As per incoming reports, DaimlerChrylser AG is currently talking with both Volkswagen AG and China’s Chery Auto Co for potential development of a compact car for the Chinese market. This car could be sold under the Dodge brand when it is launched.
The Wall Street Journal reported this market rumor citing some person who is close to these talks being held between the automakers in US, Germany and China. The report mentioned that it is not clear whether the car would be launched in other markets including the USA.
If they decide to collaborate with Chery Auto, it would help them become a major auto exporter from this country where a lot of US and European companies are expanding to capture a piece of the domestic market.
Chery is on the process of launching some of its cars in the US market through a partnership with entrepreneur Malcolm Bricklin. None of the involved parties has come out with a statement on this market rumor.
