General Motors delivers Chevrolet Aveo to Indian market
US automaker General Motors has finally launched the much-awaited Chevrolet Aveo model in the Indian market. The launch was made in the city of Bangalore and India becomes the second country where this model is available after Singapore.
Interestingly, GM has launched this model in the Indian market before their home market of United States. GM plans to launch Chevrolet Aveo in US next month. They are already selling an old version of the car there.
GM would be taking on existing players in the market like Ford Fiesta, Honda City, and the Hyundai Accent with the sedan version of the car. This is one of the fastest growing segments and GM would finally have a presence in this market with the Chevrolet Aveo.
The company also has plans to launch the hatchback Aveo Yuva and the Optra SRV sedan sometime next month. GM plans to sell around 14000 Aveos in two power train variants (1399 cc -1.4L and 1598 cc 1.6L) in India by the end of this year and around 20,000 plus on an annualized basis.
