Hero Honda does better than Bajaj Auto in May 2006
Hero Honda is the dominating player in the Indian two-wheeler market. They also happen to be the world’s largest maker of two wheelers. However, in the recent years, they are facing increasing competition from other local players like Bajaj Auto and TVS Motors.
Bajaj Auto has launched some fascinating products including the Bajaj Discover and Bajaj Pulsar, which have captured the imagination of the Indian consumer. This helped the company gain market share considerably. However, Hero Honda seems to be back as they reported a higher growth rate than archrival Bajaj Auto in monthly sales volume last month.
The company reported 34 per cent rise in total two-wheeler sales in May 2006 at 3.03 lakh units against 2.26 lakh units in the same month last year. Bajaj on the other hand recorded a growth of 27 per cent rise in motorcycle sales to touch 196,120 units.
Hero Honda impressively sold around 30 lakh bikes last year and they would easily shatter their record this year if they continue to show this kind of improvement.
