LG Philips and Samsung: LCD TV prices might soon drop

LCD TV panel makers LG Philips and Samsung are saying that 37″ LCD TV panels prices can fall down to as little as USD600 by September. This would result in them appearing in the market for less than USD 1000.

The competition in this market is increasing massively and companies are now shifting focus to 40-inch segment. This would result in fall in prices for the 37-inch panels.

In addition, panel makers including LG.Philips LCD and AU Optronics (AUO) are ramping up capacity at their sixth-generation (6G) plants. The prices for the 37” panels are already down to around US$700.

The manufacturers are taking care that the prices do not fall drastically which would affect their bottom-line. Market analysts have also predicted that the demand for these television sets would increase in the coming months due to seasonal effects.
