TATA Consultancy Services to expand in Pune
TATA Consultancy Services (TCS) has said that they are planning to invest Rs 500 crore in its new software development facility planned in the Pune city. They have signed on a MoU with the State government to acquire 50 acres of land and they would be setting up a development facility in Hinjewadi Phase III.
This unit would be based in the Special Economic Zone promoted by Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC). It would have an initial capacity of 5,000 seats, which they would expand to nearly double in the coming years.
This unit at Hinjewadi facility will also house professionals from TCS’s R&D and Engineering services’ groups. S. Ramadorai, CEO and Managing Director of TCS said in a statement on the company’s plan for this site: “Pune is emerging as promising IT hub for companies and TCS plans to play an integral role in the further development of the local economy by working with academic institutions and help train and develop talent in the region and the state.”
He added: “Our experience suggests that efforts to develop new TCS infrastructure at various locations has resulted in overall development of the region.”
