United Airlines to cut around 1000 jobs by year end

United Airlines has said that they are planning to cut as many as 1000 jobs by the year-end. These job cuts would be applied in both salaried and management jobs.

The airline company is working hard to cut costs to survive in this competitive market and this latest announced job cuts would affect around 10% of the company’s total salaried workforce.

United had recently admitted that its costs were too high, even after the completion early this year of its three-year bankruptcy restructuring. They had set themselves a target of $400 million in additional cost reductions but did not reveal how many job cuts that plan had in store.

United Airlines CEO Glenn Tilton said in a statement on these plans: “We’re going to reduce our costs further, we’re going to take full advantage of the network that we have preserved to optimize our revenue, and we are going to deliver to our customers a consistently superior and consistently improving customer experience.”
