Google acquires the property forming their Googleplex

Search engine giant Google has stated that they are acquiring its Silicon Valley headquarters for $319 million. This deal would cover the company’s primary center located in a cluster of buildings popularly known as Googleplex.

Google confirmed this news in a Securities and Exchange Commission document they filed yesterday. These properties are being acquired from four commercial real estate companies and the deal is expected to be closed by the end of the current month.

The search engine company began setting up their base in these buildings in 2003 and since then they have become the giants in the internet market challenging the likes of Microsoft and Yahoo!

Googleplex was earlier occupied by Silicon Graphics Inc. who are the maker of high-powered computers. Their fortunes have since then changed a lot and the company is trying to reorganize under bankruptcy court protection.
