Maruti claims no phasing out of Zen and 800
Suzuki Motor chairperson and CEO Osamu Suzuki has claimed that the company’s Indian unit has no plans to phase out popular models like Maruti Zen and Maruti 800.
The company had reportedly stopped making the Zen model a couple of months ago and market rumors claimed that they would be replacing Zen with a new car.
Suzuki was speaking on the sidelines of the ‘India Japan Business Summit’ in Tokyo when he said: “We will continue to manufacture these models.”
He added that the Nissan models made in the Indian plants of the company would be primarily exported to the European markets and would be sold under the Nissan brand. The company is still working out on details of this deal.
