Skype launches their services in South Korea
VoIP software giants Skype are now targeting the highly competitive and aggressive market of South Korea with their products and services. Skype is the world’s dominating player in the Web-based telephony service market and they are launching their full-fledge offerings here.
The company announced during a press conference here that it would open voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) services in collaboration with Auction, a domestic online site. Skype vice president Geoffrey Prentice added his views: “The business prospects of Korea with the world’s leading broadband infrastructure is very bright.”
South Korea is very advanced when it comes to availability of broadband connectivity in the country. It has the highest high-speed Internet penetration ratio in this planet with almost 12 million out of 15.5 million households hooked up to broadband connections.
Prentice added: “With a user community already in excess of 75 million registered users globally, based on high quality communication products and strong relationships with businesses such as eBay Korea, we expect to increase our reach substantially.”
