Nicholas Piramal acquires one of Pfizer’s UK based unit

Nicholas Piramal India has said that they have signed on an agreement to acquire one of the manufacturing facilities of Pfizer Inc located at Morpeth in the UK. The financial aspects of this deal were not revealed.

Market analysts believe that the deal could be worth as much as Rs 230 crore. The unit at Morpeth is one of the Pfizer’s integrated facilities in the world and has end-to-end production and supply chain capabilities that cover active pharmaceuticals ingredients (APIs), finished dosage, packaging and distribution of drugs.

This unit has also been approved by the SFDA and the UKMHRA and has been a supply hub for certain Pfizer products supplied to markets like US, Europe and Japan.

Piramal would be acquiring this unit through their wholly owned subsidiary in the UK — NPIL Pharmaceuticals (UK) Ltd.
