Kingfisher Airlines might not wait for government approval for international operations
Kingfisher Airlines chairman and managing director Vijay Mallya has said in a statement that they might not wait for the government’s nod to start their international aviation operations.
Mallya said in a statement while speaking at the CII India Innovation Summit: “I have applied to the Government of India to review their five-year moratorium on operating international flights by domestic operators, and hope that the government will consider my application.”
He added: “If the government, for whatever reason, is unable to review the policy, I have made alternative plans. Because I can’t possibly keep brand new wide-body aircraft on the ground.”
Kingfisher Airlines is expected to get their first wide-bodied aircraft by the end of next year. This gives them plenty of time to work out their differences with the Indian government.
