Nokia aims to sell 40 million 3G phones this year
Nokia is already the world’s largest mobile phone manufacturer. And they are aiming to capture around 40% of the world’s market for mobile phones this year. Nokia has also said that they are aiming to sell around 40 million 3G phones this year as the technology has become widely accepted and the phones are becoming more affordable.
This statement was made by the company’s Chief Executive Jorma Ollila yesterday who was talking to the reporters at the ongoing 3GSM trade show in Barcelona. In addition, the company also has plans to sell around 80 million handsets with music players, and more than 150 million models with a built-in FM radio.
Nokia also earlier in the day launched three new mobile phones in the middle segment of the mobile market and plans to sell millions of units of these new phones. These phones are Nokia 6131, Nokia 6136, and Nokia 6070. More importantly, one of these phones, Nokia 6136 comes powered by the UMA (Unlicensed Mobile Access) technology to allow for seamless handover of voice and data connections.
