Sony has sold 3 million units of Walkman branded mobile phones

Electronics industry giant Sony has claimed that they have sold over 3 million units of their Walkman branded mobile phones in the market. The company launched these new digital media playing capability phones around 6 months back and they have been pretty popular amongst the teenagers.

Sony Ericsson President Miles Flint said in a statement: “Bringing the Walkman brand to Sony Ericsson phones was one of our achievements in 2005 and we have now sold more than 3 million Walkman phones.”

Sony makes mobile phones in collaboration with Swedish company Ericsson and also is the world’s fifth-biggest handset maker. They are trying hard to catch up with the market leaders Nokia, Motorola, and Samsung and are also aiming at matching the popularity of the Apple iPod music players with these combo products.
