8.7 million millionaires around the world

Investment group Merrill Lynch and consultancy Capgemini has released their latest World Wealth Report and they claim that the world now has as many as 8.7 million millionaires!

This figure is larger than the population of the New York City and is a 6.5 percent improvement in the last year itself. Impressively, this figure is also twice the number of millionaires identified in the first survey a decade ago.

The net wealth of all the millionaires in the world has increased by 8.5 percent to 33.3 trillion dollars as per the information released in the survey.

South Korea is the market with the fastest growing millionaire base. Impressively, India comes next followed by Russia. USA continues to dominate the list with 2.67 million millionaires. However, the growth rate of new millionaires has dropped in this country.
