Boeing might get rid of their Connexion unit
US based airline manufacturers Boeing has said that they might sell or disband its Connexion unit. This division of the company is involved in the process of providing internet services on airplanes.
Boeing has not had much success with this division, as most airline companies are not really upbeat about offering this service on their planes. The company said in a statement: “Boeing has pursued the business vigorously, developing technology that has worked well and evolved into a useful product.”
They added: “However, the market for the service has not developed satisfactorily. Therefore, the company will be working in conjunction with customers to thoroughly evaluate the Connexion marketplace and business model to determine next steps.”
The company has already reached an agreement with Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines System and Japan Airlines to provide services through Connexion division.
