Volkswagen and Google to enhance drivability of a car
Germany based automaker Volkswagen has announced that they are working with the search engine giants and the maker of Google Earth application, Google. They are currently working on a prototype vehicle that would be featuring the Google’s satellite mapping software to give drivers a bird’s eye view of the road ahead.
They are also taking help from the graphic card developers Nvidia for their plans to develop an in-car navigation map system and a three-dimensional display. This would enable the driver of the vehicle to see where he is driving on a map in relation to the surrounding topography.
Volkswagen has its unit Electronics Research Laboratory based in Palo Alto, California, in Silicon Valley and they are also reportedly working on other technologies like automatic personalized information updates for the navigation systems. They also recently showcased a prototype car at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January.
