Vodafone and Google partners on mobile search
Motorola had announced last month that they would soon make searching Google’s search engine easier on their mobile phones capable of accessing the internet. Now, Vodafone has announced a deal with the search engine to offer search capabilities on its Vodafone live! 3G service.
As part of this deal, Vodafone users will be able to use Google’s search engine to find content within the Vodafone live multimedia portal and on the wider Web. And the mobile service provider is hoping that by making Google more accessible, it would lead to more online usage by their customers.
Mobile companies have spent billions of dollars in establishing a network of 3G services and now need consumers to start spending more on using it to justify the costing. Google would benefit, as they would earn through advertising on the web searches made using the mobile devices.
The search engine giant is already in a deal with Vodafone rival T-Mobile under which users of its 3G mobile services have the Google web page as their default home page.
