Microsoft cutting sales jobs in United States

Microsoft has said that they are cutting around 148 sales jobs in the US market. This is part of their goal to become more efficient in their operations.

The company overall are firing 214 sales people but would be replacing around 66 in the reorganization. However, people being fired would be able to apply for these new positions.

Microsoft aims to become more responsive to consumer demands with this minor shuffle in their sales operations.

The company is increasingly facing new threats from companies who provide services and products based on web applications. This somewhat creates a problem for the software giant as they rely on selling applications which installs and run on the machine.

They are also suffering from massive delays to their primary software applications namely Windows Vista operating system and MS Office 2007 productivity suite.
