Nissan Deal: Maruti Udyog increasing production capacity at its base in Gurgaon

India’s largest automaker Maruti Udyog is working hard on increasing their production capacity at their base in Gurgaon to meet the ever-growing demand from the domestic market.

The company plans to increase the capacity of its new car assembly unit at Manesar (Gurgaon) to three lakh units in the next three-four years.

In addition, the capacity of its upcoming diesel plant would also be tripled to three lakh units. The new unit at Manesar is expected to be commissioned by December.

These new plans for expansion have become necessary, as the company might have to soon start producing Nissan cars at its facilities.

Jagdish Khattar, managing director and chief executive officer, Maruti Udyog said in a statement: “Maruti is expected to produce more than one lakh cars for Nissan in another couple of years. Maruti is going to be a major sourcing hub for Nissan. The understanding with Nissan will significantly increase India’s exports.”
