Maruti might hike car prices this month
Maruti Udyog Managing Director Jagdish Khattar has said that the company would be taking a call on whether to up the price of its offerings this month.
Rivals Hyundai has already confirmed plans to hike the prices of their models. Rising fuel prices and the increased costs of raw material has made it necessary for the automakers in the country to review the prices of their models.
Khattar also confirmed that the company is due to launch a diesel car by the end of the year. He said: “This will be manufactured in our Manesar (near Gurgaon) factory and we will initially manufacture 1,00,000 units which we will gradually scale up to 3,00,000 units depending upon business requirements.”
This is most likely to be a diesel version of their popular Swift model.
