Om Bhatt is new chairman of the State Bank of India
After months of speculation, the Indian government has finally confirmed the appointment of Om Bhatt as the new chairman of the State Bank of India.
He would remain at this position till March 2011. He had been working for the bank as one of the managing directors.
Bhatt took over his new position in the bank on Saturday. The post had been lying vacant since May 31 when AK Purwar retired from this position.
Tara Shankar Bhattacharya was working as the interim chairman of the bank and he would resume his work as one of the managing director of the bank.
Bhatt is expected to become one of the longest serving chairmen of the bank with almost five years of service left.
