Tiger beer might make an entry into the Indian market
International brewer Heineken NV’s Asia Pacific Breweries has revealed that they are going to setup a joint venture with Jaipuria Beverages & Food Industries.
The two companies are planning to establish a Greenfield brewery in Andhra Pradesh. APB would own 67% of this project named Pearl Breweries and market analysts believe that the group might launch the Tiger brand of Beer in the Indian market.
This brewery is expected to start production by end-2007 and rumors claim that the two companies are investing as much as Rs 69 crore in this project.
This is the second major investment plan announced by the international brewery major in the South Asian market. The company recently acquired a 60 per cent stake in a Sri Lankan brewery. And they also have plans to build a brewery in Mongolia.
