GM sales up by 53% for the month of June

GM might have reported totally disappointing sales in the US for the month of June, but the company is doing extremely well in the Indian market. The company seems to have gained a lot of consumer goodwill with the recently launch of Chevrolet Aveo.

The company said in a statement that its vehicle sales in June rose 53 percent to 3,346 units compared to the same month a year ago.

GM now sells only Chevrolet branded cars here in India as they have totally phased out the Opel branded models. GM had only sold around 2,183 vehicles in June 2005. GM has set themselves the aim of capturing a 10% market share in India by 2010 and the Chevy brand is doing a great job for them at the moment.

With Chevrolet Spark expected to come sometime next year, the target should become a lot easier for the company.
