Honda aiming to triple production in India
Honda Motor has just launched their latest car Honda Civic in the Indian market and the company is now aiming to triple their car-making capacity in India by the end of the decade.
Honda is planning to invest 30 billion rupees to expand the capacities to meet the growing demand in the Indian automobile market.
The short-term plan for the company is to double vehicle output in India to 100,000 a year by late 2007. This is to be further expanded to 150,000 units by 2010.
Honda is also aiming to expand their operations in their other markets around the world. India and China are their high-growth markets and these are expected to get the most attention from the world’s second- largest carmaker by value.
Market experts have also said that the company would have to keep investing to grow even further to stay ahead of the competition from rivals including Suzuki and Hyundai.
