Godrej Consumer Products acquires Rapidol
Godrej Consumer Products Ltd has confirmed that they are acquiring the South African hair color business of Rapidol, UK. In addition, they are also taking over its subsidiary Rapidol International.
The financial details of this acquisition have not been revealed by the company though they did say that these acquisitions are part of their global expansion plan.
GCPL Chairman & Managing Director Adi Godrej said in a statement: “This transaction is consistent with our Endeavour to build a strong personal and household care business, both in India and across the globe, especially in Hair Colors.”
He further said: “Rapidol South Africa is a profit making company that manufactures and markets premium hair colorants in the African market.” This deal would give Godrej the right to market ‘Inecto’ and ‘Soflene’ brands.
Godrej added more on their plans with this company: “We also propose to introduce some of our own products (like FairGlow and Evita) there, via Rapidol’s established distribution network. This is our second international acquisition in less than a year and reflects our aggressive growth focus. We will continue to pursue value enhancing inorganic and organic growth opportunities both in India and overseas.”
