Motorola and IIT Mumbai to work together
World’s second largest mobile phone maker Motorola has announced a tie-up with the Indian Institute of Technology based in Mumbai. The two groups would be working on a joint research in Next Generation telecommunication technologies.
US based Motorola is due to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with IIT Mumbai. This would enable the Motorola researchers to work with the institute’s faculties for research and development initiatives on application of Next Generation Technologies.
The company already has a decent base in the Indian market with around 3,500 engineers across six of its R&D centers. Motorola is also setting up a mobile phone manufacturing plant in India and is promoting heavily in the market to generate more sales of their new range of handsets.
Interestingly, Motorola also develops more than 40 per cent of its total software requirement from its Global Software Group, Bangalore.
