Ken Lay of Enron scandal dies of heart attack
Enron Corp. founder and chief executive Ken Lay who is one of the prime accused in the massive Enron scandal died of a heart attack on Wednesday.
Lay was convicted in May for his role in the Enron mess and as per incoming news; he was at his vacation home in Colorado at the time of his death.
Lay family spokeswoman Kelly Kimberly said in a statement confirming the news: “Ken Lay passed away early this morning in Aspen.”
Ken Lay was due to be sentenced later this year and was expected to face a lengthy prison term. He along with former Enron Chief Executive Jeffrey Skilling were convicted of fraud and conspiracy for hiding the financial ruin at Enron. The company collapsed in December 2001.
