Southwest Airlines raises prices of tickets
Southwest Airlines is known for pioneering the concept of low-fare flights and they are also the largest operator at Long Island Macarthur Airport.
However, the airline company has now raised the prices of their tickets by around $3 to $10. The company blames this hike on the rising prices of aviation fuel.
This could spark a series of fare hikes considering Southwest Airlines is seen as the benchmark for setting air travel fares by other airline companies in the region.
Their prices were matched by seven other airlines that include some big names like American Airlines, United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Northwest Airlines, Continental Airlines, AirTran Airways and Frontier Airlines.
