General Electric to provide technical support to Reliance Petroleum
US based General Electric’s oil and gas business unit would be now supplying compressors for the new Reliance Petroleum’s refinery coming up at Jamnagar in the western Indian state of Gujarat.
This new plant is being constructed by Reliance at their existing 660,000-barrels-per-day refinery owned by parent Reliance Industries.
The company claims that combining these two plants would make it the world’s largest refining complex.
GE said in a statement on this new development: “GE’s Oil and Gas business will supply compression technology to Reliance Petroleum Ltd. for a Greenfield project in Jamnagar that will result in the world’s largest refinery complex at a single location. GE will supply three reciprocating compressors, two screw compressors and spare parts for the project.”
