Huawei to make 3G handsets for Vodafone
Chinese tech giants Huawei Technologies might be in controversies when it comes to developing hardware for the Indian telecom giants. However, they have managed to impress Vodafone enough to get a massive order for mobile phones.
Vodafone said in a statement that they had made an agreement with Huawei Technologies as per which they would be supplying them third-generation (3G) handsets for at least five years. These would be exclusive Vodafone-branded consumer 3G handsets and would be sold in as many as 21 countries around the world.
This agreement would give Huawei a significant entry into the European handset market. Vodafone’s chief marketing officer Peter Bamford said in a statement on this collaboration: “This agreement with Huawei shows the cost benefits Vodafone’s size and global reach can bring to our customers.”
