Yahoo! to expand base at Santa Clara
Internet giants Yahoo! have acquired 42.5 acres in Santa Clara and they are planning to develop a new campus in this region, which might serve as their new corporate headquarters.
The search engine company acquired this property from San Francisco-based TMG Partners. Yahoo! is rapidly expanding its employee base and has more than 10,000 people working for them worldwide.
They are also nearing in to closing a deal of another additional 3.5 adjacent acres. This entire property deal is expected to cost them around USD 50 million.
Yahoo spokeswoman Helena Maus spoke on these new development plans: “We looked at a lot of different sites around the Bay Area. We were looking for proximity to current offices, and most importantly the long-term flexibility for corporate growth.”
The company already occupies 1.7 million square feet in owned and leased buildings in Sunnyvale and Santa Clara. However, more than half their employees work outside Sunnyvale.
